PROGRESS UPDATE

  • We were within hours of making an offer on a condo to use as a hosting facility when God dropped an amazing alternative in our lap! Rather than purchase the condo, we moved into a house on the outskirts of town on very short notice. The house offers living space for us and a nicely-furnished studio apartment that we will be able to use for hosting missionaries. We are now in the jungle, which means lots of birds and a beautiful view over the adjacent valley. It is exactly the sort of place we have dreamed of sharing with others!
  • We officially hosted our first family at the end of May. It was a great success, and it feels good to be switching into active serving mode after nearly two years of foundation work. We look forward to serving many more missionary families in the years ahead.
  • We are returning to the US in the middle of June in order to see family and friends, but also to do a whirlwind fundraising trip. We will have stops in Arizona, Wisconsin, and Florida. If you would like to get together with us, please reach out. We want to make as many connections as possible.
  • Pray with us as we look into schooling options for Mysland this fall. We are weighing the pros and cons of several different schools or possibly homeschooling.

From Overwhelmed to Overflowing: Cultivating a Sustainable Rhythm of Life

Living in God’s Pace: Finding Balance in a Busy World

Many people operate in survival mode, constantly overwhelmed by responsibilities. But God designed us for a rhythm of work and rest—one that allows us to thrive rather than merely endure. Jesus said, “My yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:30).

Why Overwhelm Happens

  1. Living Without Margin – When every moment is packed, there’s no space for God’s peace. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “There is a time for everything.”
  2. Carrying Burdens We Weren’t Meant to Bear – Psalm 55:22 says, “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you.” Yet many of us try to handle everything alone.
  3. Ignoring God’s Design for Rest – The world glorifies busyness, but God values fruitfulness. John 15:5 tells us that apart from Him, we can do nothing.

How to Shift from Overwhelmed to Overflowing

  • Prioritize What Truly Matters – Ask God to direct your time and energy (Psalm 90:12).
  • Embrace Healthy Limits – Like Jesus, learn to say no when necessary (Mark 1:35-38).
  • Make Space for Renewal – Spend time in worship, prayer, and activities that refresh your spirit.

A sustainable life isn’t about doing less—it’s about doing what matters most with God at the center.

Book of the week

Sent: Living a Life That Invites Others to Jesus by Heather Holleman explores what it means to live with a mindset of being “sent” by God into everyday life. Drawing from Scripture, personal stories, and practical insights, Holleman encourages readers to see themselves as ambassadors for Christ in their daily interactions. She challenges the idea that evangelism is only for a select few and instead shows how all believers are called to naturally and joyfully share their faith through relationships, hospitality, and simple conversations. The book equips readers to embrace their God-given mission with confidence, purpose, and a heart of love.
