Jacó, Costa Rica
This is the town we call home, both for our family, and for Rock 61:2 Ministries.

We have enjoyed having family come visit us here in Jacó over the past few months. Mysland loves the extra attention! A recent highlight for Mysland was a class field trip to a turtle sanctuary where the kids got to release baby sea turtles!

I’ve got my eye on you!

Groundbreaking for the new Horizon International School, where Mysland will begin attending in August.

What we’ve been working on lately.
Added a new board member. Welcome, Ash Reddy!
Began planning a fundraising trip back to the US in early summer.
Looking at land for sale in the area, with an eye toward a permanent home for Rock 61:2.
We are excited to announce that we will be hosting our first family in May!
We’re still waiting for our 501(c)3 approval. 238 days and counting…..out of a predicted 180 days.

The Biblical Importance of Rest
Rest is a significant theme in Scripture, demonstrating God’s care for human well-being, the rhythm of creation, and spiritual renewal.
1. God Established Rest in Creation
- Genesis 2:2-3 – “On the seventh day God finished His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done.”
- Rest was part of God’s perfect design.
- It wasn’t due to fatigue but a model for humanity.
2. The Sabbath Command
- Exodus 20:8-11 – “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy… the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.”
- Rest is a command, not just a suggestion.
- It’s a time set apart for worship and renewal.
3. Jesus’ Invitation to Rest
- Matthew 11:28-30 – “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
- True rest is found in Christ, not just in physical cessation from work.
- His “yoke is easy” because He carries our burdens.
4. Rest as Trust in God
- Psalm 46:10 – “Be still, and know that I am God.”
- Rest is an act of faith, acknowledging God’s sovereignty.
- It combats anxiety and self-reliance.
5. Spiritual Rest and Eternal Rest
- Hebrews 4:9-11 – “There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God… Let us therefore strive to enter that rest.”
- Earthly rest points to the ultimate rest in Christ.
- Resting in God is both a present and future reality.
6. Overwork and Its Dangers
- Psalm 127:2 – “It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for He gives to His beloved sleep.”
- Constant busyness without reliance on God is futile.
- God provides rest as a gift.
Rest is both a physical necessity and a spiritual discipline. It is woven into creation, commanded in Scripture, and fulfilled in Christ. Biblical rest is not just about stopping work—it’s about trusting God, worshiping Him, and receiving His peace.
Quirks about Costa Rica
Costa Rica abolished its military in 1948, making it one of the few countries in the world without an army. The money saved is invested in education, healthcare, and environmental conservation.

Prayer requests
- Ongoing Spanish study.
- Pray that we receive our 501(c)3 approval soon! There is light at the end of the tunnel, as we have recently been in contact with the IRS and are working to clarify a few details.
- Mysland’s school incorporated a few changes last month and she has been slow to adjust, which has made for some rough mornings.
Thank you for praying. Your prayers are vital to our ongoing ministry!
